Banana Chocolate Doughnuts – Baked

In her excitement to use a new doughnut pan, this home baker whipped her very first batch of yummy “Banana Chocolate Doughnuts.”  They’re like a light banana bread texture and healthy enough to eat for breakfast.

The recipe calls for:

  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe banana (from one large banana)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp whole wheat flour

And for the chocolate glaze

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup thickened cream
